~~~WIND~~~
I feel it differently than most
The cool, brisk wind.
Whenever it comes
Cooling me off
Rustling the leaves of the trees
and hearing the sound it makes
blowing through the evergreens
reminds me of when I could fly.
That feeling of weightlessness
as I jumped into the air
flew above the ground
faster and faster.
Turning quickly from left to right
simply standing would bring me back down to Earth
Where I would walk again
and when that feeling came upon me
I would take the running leap
up-into the wind I flew.
One with the wind.
Older now.
Standing.
Facing into the wind,
feeling that feeling I knew so well
now, too big to fly,
too much knowledge in my head
not innocent and young
cant make the leap into the sky.
Saddened to move on
from those amazing soaring flights
deciding what the wind means to me now
as I make a new wish
As the wind comes upon me,
it surrounds me from head to toe
taking the stresses of the moment, of the day,
of the week off of me
as it swirls up and off of me through the tips of my hair.
This is the new path I choose
the way in which I feel it
to breathe in new life
to revive and continue
and lose those stresses that hold me to the ground.
Others curse the wind
for messing up their hair or making them cold.
Such trivial things
I bless the wind.
and I am thankful for it.
This breath of fresh air
is exactly what I need.
~~~WIND~~~

It Could Always Be Worse...

I am an OPTIMIST. Always have been, probably always will be.

I don't know why I am this way... I was born that way... I like to think on the brighter side of things. I always try to find the positive result of things... I always think... "Wow, it could always be worse!"

Many times, I have looked back at my life and experiences and have thought to myself... "well, it could have been worse." I have learned complaining doesn't solve anything. It is better to find a solution instead.

Now, don't get me wrong, I do like to complain. Sometimes, I think I am an expert COMPLAINER.

Some like to think I am a "LECTURER..." not too sure I agree... I like to think I am an EXPLAINER.

Is that an OPTIMISTIC way  of putting it? Hmmm... Food for thought huh!

So, maybe I need to think differently (not like an OPTIMIST).

If I was on the other side of being EXPLAINED to... I might not like it... I might think, "I heard this before, why is he telling me again... this is bad... I will not listen..."

But I guess it is all perspective...

This leads me to my point... I want to have others be more OPTIMISTIC.

If more people were OPTIMISTIC, then maybe instead of complaining or being negative, more things would actually get done... (this is not to say that I am not LAZY because... well... I am an expert there too... but then again who isn't).

So, I get grief sometimes because of my OPTIMISTISM.

But that is ok... It could always be worse...

What does icdamoon mean?

I See The Moon… Do you?

Growing up, my Mom used to sing a song to her kids. This song was “I See The Moon… and the Moon Sees Me.” She would sign this song each time she saw the moon.

Here are the words of the song:

"I see the Moon and the Moon sees me,
The Moon sees Somebody I'd like to see,
God Bless the Moon and God Bless me,
God Bless the Somebody I'd like to see."

We would sing it every time we saw the moon growing up. It was tradition. Of course, now when I see the moon, I still sing it and I think about my mom. She passed away in 2004.

My wife and I taught this song to our kids. It is now a tradition that we sing it when we see the moon.

My son couldn’t say the “th” in the when he was little. He would say “da” moon. It was pretty cute and made me happy that he put his own spin on things. So I decided to use it as a unique identifier for me. I would use “I c (see) da moon” ~ icdamoon. I liked it and I have used in different ways, including here.

I have found that I like to see the moon and it is interesting how something like this can influence life.

I like to think that now when I see the moon and I sing it, that my mom is watching over my family and me. I hope that my kids continue the tradition and that when I am gone they know that I am watching over them. It is a good feeling.

So now when you see the moon, you need to think of that someone you'd like to see!

I see the moon... do you?
