TREASURES!

So yesterday was my first day off from any kind of work in a long time... I don't want you to think that I never have a day off, because sometimes it seems like that for me, but yesterday was a Monday and usually I work every Monday... but not yesterday!

So what did I do?

Those tables have been sitting out waiting for me to put back into the Garage... I know... put those tables back into the garage...

So... I lounged for a while, because I am NOT a procrastinator...

Especially when it comes to...

The Garage...

(notice I capitalized G in Garage... because it is like a real entity with a life of its own)

Lets just say the Garage is really a storage room full of stuff that I have not seen in years... at least 6 years we have been in the house... boxes of stuff from the time gone by...

So... in order to put the three tables back into the garage it actually requires a great deal of cleaning, moving that mattress, cleaning up that broken mirror that got smashed by something else "thrown" in the Garage, breaking down the ten million empty boxes, and throwing out things that will never be missed...

There was a small path from the utility room door to the trash BINS yes binS... we have two.... and then a path out the garage door... (so that on Fridays we can put them out in the street to be picked up).
OK... so... first things first, I dragged the trash bins outside... Of course this requires the door to the Garage to be open and I see cars drive by and the people driving by gawk at the site of my garage... seeing the floor to ceiling mess...  I just usually wave and smile... I bet they go home or to work and relate this visual trauma to their friends. They probably have night mares about it... I know that sometimes I do...

So then I work to get a bunch of "stuff" moved and thrown out (both bins are now overflowing), I create a pile of trash for next week, I put the two little kid bikes and 4 bags of clothes ready to go to Goodwill together and oh yeah, and the tables put back easily in a place to get them out and return them as needed.... (after all that was the goal)... Whew that was a lot of work!

But the best thing was my reward... Finding the TREASURE!

Yep... TREASURE...

I found a drawer that housed several LOST photo albums. I love photos... I think I take a million a year. Well that is an exaggeration, but I take lots for sure, especially since the invention of DIGITAL cameras...(my family thinks I take too many... but secretly I think they love it because I have caught memories they will look back on and cherish...)

These photo albums were the ones of when our kids were just babies, of when I had darker and more hair (and was skinny), the album of all our extra wedding photos from 20 years ago... and photos of family members we have lost... it was a true TREASURE to find this drawer...

It was a TREASURE looking through them with my wife and kids... We laughed and laughed... I can't wait to start scanning them so we don't lose them again...

It was a good thing to I didn't have to work yesterday! Because I found TREASURE...

The TREASURE of great memories from the past and a renewed resolutions to get rid of more junk.... (maybe you too will clean up your Garage and will find something else you forgot you were missing... TREASURE).
